One firm, two coasts

A Boston underwriter and a Seattle specialist, working from the same book.

For a hundred years, Redhook wrote the risks moving through Boston, New York and the Gulf. Cargo, hulls, freight liability. Long relationships, careful files, quiet renewals.

Pacific Blue Marine brought something different: Pacific Rim cargo, aquaculture, a newer book and a sharper tech stack. The two teams now operate as one underwriting firm with a shared appetite and a shared claims desk.

For clients on either coast, that means broader capacity, faster quotes, and the same underwriters you already know on the other end of the line.

Freight & Specialty

How we work

Placed by underwriters. Moved by email, phone, or a boat ride down to the yard.

This is a relationship business. It always has been. What’s new is the speed, the tooling, and the willingness to quote on risks the bigger markets decline.

Submission

Broker or direct. We accept schedules, surveys and loss runs in whatever format you already use.

Underwriting review

A named underwriter reads the file. Most quotes go out inside 48 hours, urgent renewals same day.

Binding & documentation

Terms issued, cover bound, certificates delivered. Policies on Duck Creek, accessible to your broker.

Claims & renewal

A 24-hour claims desk, a direct line to the adjuster, and a renewal conversation that starts 60 days out.

Careers

We’re hiring underwriters, analysts and claims staff on both coasts.

A hundred-year-old firm that’s building something new. If you’ve worked in marine insurance, or in shipping, and you want a smaller desk with a real voice on the file, we’d like to talk.
